So today is Sunday, 1 hour off of a new week, which to all intents and purposes is heartbreaking. It’s not so much the actual work, it’s more the time I have to start. Shift begins at 0745 which means I’m off out the door at 0615. The biggest concern over my early morning start is how long its going to take to get the boiler to work. I’ll be fine though. I can just eat toast.
The past week has been interesting as well. Had a good meeting at work which unfortunately put a stop to my innovation but could open up a few more possibilities and my manager put my name forward for testing some trial thing so hopefully something comes of all this, it’s relatively exciting times.
Also, Bank Holiday Monday so the launch of the Halo: Reach BETA. Which I discussed over here. I’m enjoying it and it’s making me want to get back into Halo Multiplayer, which I am definitely going to do. A tweak of my Reach controls and I’m back to classic Halo with a twist. It’s been a few months though since I put the multiplayer disc in.
Recently though I’ve been spending a lot of time on Grid, Fable2 and a little bit of Mass Effect. All very much enjoyable. Also just finished Splinter Cell: Conviction enjoyed it greatly. It was short but a very agreeable change from previous iterations. Double Agent had lots of sequences that I felt were long and drawn out and ruined the flow of the game, Conviction was done nigh on perfectly.
I had a bad day on Friday. I don’t generally get stressed out about things I have to deal with. But something about that day and the calls I had to take and just how the events unfolded really knocked me for six. Took everything I had for me to keep my cool, almost came close to losing it. Spoke to one guy who I couldn’t figure out was either being a bit slow or just being purposefully awkward. Spoke to another who just from start to finish shouted at me – he thought he was paying more for what he uses because the juice has further to travel from his meter to where he lives.
The weekend has been relaxing though. There’s been some motor racing on. A lot of the commentators within the first couple of races predicted that Barcelona would be a boring race and it certainly was. Qualifying was interesting though. I’m sure the Red Bull cars have something untoward on them that’s seriously increasing their performance. I find it a struggle to think they are legitimately a second a lap faster in quali. But no one seems to be asking any questions.
I’m enjoying my book I’m reading, when I find time to read that is. It is one of the hardest ones I’ve read in a long time despite the fact its shaping up to be a brilliant book. For those of you who don’t follow this Blog or perhaps aren’t clued into the types of things I am reading at the moment. I’m working my way through Jack Kerouac’s ‘On the Road’. Why is it one of the most challenging books? Because I am reading it just as it was written. There are no paragraphs, including the speech which makes it very difficult to know when to stop as it’s got to be in a place that I remember. I’m going to have a great sense of accomplishment when I finish it though. I can sense it.
My lovely grandfather ordered me a Filofax today, I’m very excited because of how old school they are. It’s not an expensive one but I am hoping it’s going to last me a very long time. I’ve never really been one for planning my time or using a diary. But I’ve been using one at work and I really going to work on managing my time better when I get to university which I am still hugely excited about. September is still a long way off though 😦
Which unfortunately. Five AM isn’t 😦
